Still can’t believe this is all really happening! I have to pinch myself every time I run up and down the stairs. A little baby is due this October. This has by far been the hardest thing news to keep. As I approach my third trimester, I wanted to be able to share my journey with you.
I was on a trip to Nashville with my girl friends and the night before I decided to take the test to find out if I was pregnant. The test was positive, but I refused to believe it and just shunned the thought. I told Krishna about it, and he asked me to be careful and enjoy the trip. Once I was back from my trip, I went to the doctor for a physical and the doctor complimented my hair and said she was sure that I was pregnant! That was the first time I truly believed it, and sure enough, the news was out.
At that moment, I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that it was such a miracle and I was growing a baby inside me.
My first trimester was filled with emotions and nausea. I had terrible nausea and I realized I could not eat anything outside. Eating out made me sick to my stomach and I had to eat home cooked meals. This wasn’t exactly what I was planning and it took a while getting used to. I missed Indian food so much that I tried out every recipe possible. My to go websites for trying out new recipes were Veg Recipes of Indian and Hebbar’s Kitchen. Nonetheless, nothing can compete with my mom’s food. I craved it every single day! Wish I was in India to enjoy all the pampering and yummy food. Anyway, once I was past the 12 week mark, my body just started getting normal. No more morning/ afternoon/ evening sickness!
Update on Second Trimester, so far
I’ve been energetic, and back to my usual self. I still feel tired occasionally, but for the most part I feel normal again. I’ve been dealing with terrible bloating since the end of first trimester and it’s been a struggle since then. I’m just trying to get used to eating little at a time and spacing out my meals. I’ve been super conscious about what I eat and I make sure to eat healthy, for the most part. For the last three weeks, I’ve been craving desserts and something sweet every day. I stopped trying to curb my cravings and I indulge in ice creams, cakes, and kesari bhaat (for those who don’t know, it’s a South Indian dessert that my husband makes for me! He’s a gifted dessert chef!)
The baby kicks every day and it’s a wonderful experience to go through this journey.Words can’t explain the feeling. I feel so fortunate that I am able to go through this journey and share it with you.
If you all have any questions, feel free to ask away. I’ll be happy to answer them. I want to share a little about my workouts and fitness journey through my pregnancy, so stay tuned.
OUTFIT
Jumpsuit – Dry Goods (They don’t have an online store yet, but that’s where I’ve been shopping during my pregnancy, although they are not a maternity store)
I bought the Baby on Board Hat on Etsy and got this pregnancy announcement idea from Pinterest. I thought it was perfect and I knew I wanted to implement it for my announcement!
Thanks for stopping by!
